Urgent Appeal For Our Early Learning Centre!

Our most important priority for 2010 is to finish our Early Years Centre. Without it, we will not be able to move the two classrooms currently used in the Health Centre and will not be able to carry our oldest pupils through to the next stage… We therefore need to raise £20,000 to build: two classrooms, a head-teacher’s room, staff room, a resources room and flushable toilets. Building work has to start in March in order to be completed before the rainy season starts.

We therefore need all the help YOU can give us to fundraise amongst your community, family, friends and even work colleagues. Think about it, if you work in a small organisation (approximately 50 people) and get everyone to donate as little as £5 this would bring us £250…

Small donations can go a long way so please, contact us for more details or click here to obtain a list of fundraising ideas.

Schools Update

Wonder Years school visits are proving to be a hit with children and staff nationwide. Delivering fun and interactive presentations, wonder years has been instrumental in enabling both primary and secondary schools to promote economic well being, locally and on a global level. Wonder years volunteers have been working closely with students and staff alike highlighting differences in culture and life style from the UK to West Africa.

Visits include:

A fun, interactive and informative animation / presentation.

Fundraising workshops.

Games and discussion.

Feedback from The Gambia.

Outcomes:

A physical link between the school and a school based in the gambia.

Evidence of the impact of the schools work on outcomes, for instance in the quality of the pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.

A positive impact on community cohesion within the school and beyond.

If you work in education or know of someone who does or even if you have a child who's school could benefit from working with WYCE let us know.
