The Information Centre as the name implies, was initially meant
to make potential donors who ply the Banjul Kartong highway
aware of WYCE and its activities in Madina Salaam. This single
room facility later served multipurpose functions up to September
2005 when both the Early Years Centre and Primary Health Care
programmes were transferred to the purposely-designed buildings
on the Project Site.
The Information Centre is now becoming widely used for various village
meetings etc. It has been refurbished and WYCE Volunteers have now
relocated all the books that were being stored in the Container into
the Information Centre. A few cupboards and bookshelf units have
also been put in place there in readiness for the introduction of Library
Services to the Villagers.

Madina Salaam's Telecentre
WYCE has successfully negotiated with GAMTEL to allow one
telephone line to be installed at the Information Centre to serve as
a tele-centre on a commercial basis.

TV/Video Club
The Lodge TV/Video and antennae are now permanently placed at
the Information Centre for the use of the Villagers. This action was
hugely appreciated during the showing of the World Cup Football
matches and a small profit was made after the funds were used to
purchase a small generator, regular supplies of fuel and maintenance
bills. There is a Video Night every week and all relevant football
matches and time schedules are advertised on a large board outside
the Information Centre. The morale of the Villagers has certainly
improved due to this facility. This TV/Video Club has also formed its
own Working Committee.

Madina Salaam's Library
The final creation of the Library had to be shelved until the Football
Cup Final but the cupboards and books are all ready to be arranged
in the correct manner. Once there are more bookshelves
and cupboards available, and Working Volunteers, it is the intention
to make the Information Centre an area conducive to studying for
the older children of Madina Salaam, and a Library for the Villagers
in general. This area will need to be monitored and organised.

Ladies Skills Centre
Ten hand-sewing machines and four hand-knitting machines have been kindly donated
to WYCE and are now being used by the women of Madina as part of their skills development programme
