WYCE has built a Primary Health Care Centre with the aim to deliver free early treatments to the population of Madina Salaam.
Village Health Records are being kept for the first time, which is an unusual practice in the Gambia! Records kept include: Births and Deaths;
Daily Treatments; and Weight and Size of Newborn Babies. In addition
to clinic treatments, the Health Assistant also visit every class on a daily basis to ensure children have early treatments for cuts, burns, boils,
eye problems etc. We also have a referral service whereby serious medical conditions or difficult births are referred to local hospitals and transported
in our ambulance.
We are proud to say that in 2007, we have achieved the signing of the M.O.U. with the Department of State and Health and Social Welfare
Furthermore, as from February 2008, we have already had 7 babies delivered in our Health Centre.
Finally, WYCE is planning to be housing cataract operations in the Health Centre in 2008.
