Project Summary

WYCE's primary source of funding comes through irregular donations from potential donors mainly from Europe, UK in particular. Prominent among the category of donors are volunteers who besides their practical participation in the implementation process, donate substantial amount of money towards the running costs of the project. Other sources include small grants from civil society organisations and through the sales of produce from income generating ventures such as Bee Farming, tree nursery scheme, vegetable gardening and an annual tree planting ceremony.

'The Wonder Years' Day Nursery

'The Wonder Years' Day Nursery is the major sponsor of WYCE from conception to present date.

WYCE was born from the U K Nursery in the fact that the owners, Hilary and Keith Walker, are actually the founders of WYCE and work full-time in the Charity, guiding and ensuring that WYCE meets it Aims and Objectives. The UK Nursery pays their salaries, leaving the Charity free of large costs. This, in turn, helps the Charity to grow quicker than would otherwise be possible. The Head office has also been sponsored by 'The Wonder Years' Day Nursery enabling the Charity to be as free as possible from U K overheads.

Newman University College

Newman University College has been working with WYCE in the first instance, by encouraging their Students to visit our Project Site in The Gambia. This has now developed into their Students actually staying at our Project Site and living in our Working Lodge in Madina Salaam in order to both complete their own work placements for their college degrees and also to help with working projects that help develop the WYCE programme.

Liveridge 4x4

Liveridge sold WYCE its first Land Rover 110 in September 2001, a 1985 model with a 2.5 petrol engine. Chris and Rob were convinced we were a Charity when they found out that we wanted them to paint it Purple and Yellow!!!!!

They in fact thought we were mad, but suitably impressed when they saw the finished product.

Chris and Rob also supplied WYCE with a large amount of spares for all events.

In June 2007 Rob actually came out to Gambia to have a look at what we had achieved from a standing start. Rob will be rejoining us during 2008 for another life -changing experience.

In 2007 WYCE purchased a Range Rover Ambulance from Liveridge which is now in operation in Madina Salaam.

A diesel engine and parts were donated to WYCE and were delivered inside the back of the ambulance.

WYCE wishes to thank Liveridge for its continued support throughout the years.
